Tuesday Sep 14, 2021
Tarang Chawla is an anti-violence campaigner and champion of gender equality and mental health.
In 2015, his sister Nikita - a talented dance choreographer - was brutally murdered by her husband. The experience prompted Tarang to become an activist against men’s violence, and his work has been instrumental in changing the conversation in Australia.
Tarang has written about domestic violence, discirmination, gender equality and human rights for numerous publications. He appears in the Australian media to advocate for a safer future, and to reiterate the importance of reporting on survivor’s stories in a responsible way.
Tarang believes in the power of empathetic and authentic leadership to make real change. In his activism and advocacy work, he brings other people to the front to share their own stories and let their voices be heard. For Tarang, leadership is about standing up for what’s right and having conviction about your own beliefs, even in the face of adversity.
